about
FOLLOW THE SEA is a fandomless fanzine about whatever I want.I started FOLLOW THE SEA in high school, mostly inspired by the New York Comic Con/Anime Festival Artist Alley and my time working at Hot Topic. The name came from something my friend said in her AP English presentation. We had a good run from 2011-2015 and I dumped a bunch of copies on mall cashwraps, public library bulletins, community college study halls, and coffee shop tables.
During quarantine we put out another issue because the people I was working with had a lot of things they wanted to say and I really wanted to make stuff. Sometime later, I started took a job as a hospital social worker and started studying poetry in Syracuse, where I got to see incredible zines for graffiti, comics, skateboarding, and punk music. So, I started making zines again, and got to share my friends' art.
FOLLOW THE SEA is about sharing cool shit and fun ideas. We're about loving your obsessions and being able to both ode and critique them. We exist because of DIY ethics. We will always be free online and cheap in print.
